What is new in .NET 4.0?

Includes a new version of the CLR, expanded base class libraries, and new features such as the Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF), dynamic language runtime (DLR), and code contracts.

.NET 4.0 has no dependency over the previous installations or versions

of the .NET Framework. It is designed to run side by side with other versions of .NET Framework on the computer
